Speech to Promote a New Product Launch In-House

Speech New Product Launch Employees Team

When you launch a new product you need to be sure your team is just as excited about the initiative as you are. There’s no point spending lots of money on product development, marketing and manufacturing unless you are going to train your team to maximise its commercial potential.

New product launches are a great time to get people on board, motivated and ready for action. You need to make the most of a new product launch because it is a marketing opportunity just waiting to happen. Don’t just let your new product plop into the market – shout about it! The more noise you make about your launch, the more successful your product will be and, as you can’t do it all yourself, you have to make sure your team are representing you in the best way possible.

Here is a template to help you make a successful speech to your colleagues to mark your new product launch.

1. Explain the Product

You can’t expect your team to get excited about the new product unless you are. Now is the time to tell them all about the product and why it’s exciting.

  • Introduce the product
  • Be enthusiastic about the product

Example: I want you all to have a good look at ‘Better’ - the new low-fat spread product that we’re launching this week. I know many of you will have been involved directly or in-directly with the months of product development, so I want to thank you all for all your hard work. I think you’ll all agree that ‘Better’ looks and tastes brilliant! Come up and have a taste.

2. Highlight the Features and Benefits of the Product

You have to be clear about the features and benefits of the product you are launching – it’s the first rule of sales. Talk to your employees about what is special about the product, what marketing initiatives you have planned to maximise the launch and what you anticipate customers will love about it.

  • Talk about the product in detail
  • Explain your marketing plans

Example: For those of you that don’t know, we’re marketing ‘Better’ as a low-fat, easy to spread butter substitute, especially focusing on the middle-to-higher income bracket who want the taste of butter but also a healthy alternative that doesn’t have the negative connotations of margarine. Consequently, we have got a real push in the more suitable supermarkets, with stand alone gondolas and taste tests. There is also a stand at Waterloo station, giving away samples and vouchers.

3. Get the Team Fired Up About the New Product

End your speech by getting your team motivated. Some will already be keen as they will have worked directly on the product development, but for those that you’re relying on to push the product to your customers and potential customers, you have to be especially positive. It’s a good idea to make plenty of samples available for your employees so they can take them home and share them with friends and family. At cost price, it’s a great way to spread the word.

  • Give away free samples, if possible
  • Ask for feedback so the team feels involved
  • Thanks everyone for their involvement
  • Be positive about the next phase

Example: There are boxes full of ‘Better’ here, so take some home for all your friends and family to try. I’d love to hear what they think of it and if there are any new ideas for applications of the product. You have really done well to get this excellent product to the market in such a quick time and I know you’ve all exceeded my expectations. The next phase for ‘Better’ is going to take even more hard work, especially as the retail feedback comes in, so let’s prepare ourselves!
